Chase and I rode at Wintergreen for the first time on Sunday Night.
Slightly icy in the park, but decent everywhere else around the mtn. for a night session.
Very fast snow.
That night we stayed with my brother in Charlottesville, VA- just forty minutes up the road.
We got back to ride Wintergreen again on Monday and the snow was perfectly soft. The terrain park was a premium experience, boxes, rails, kickers, gaps, spines, and a quarter-pipe... even a volkswagen bug with a rainbow over it.
First time I've ever been on such a fast lift as the two six-person lifts they have, and I've never ridden through a tunnel before.
All and all, a really fun place.
Chase is trying to move there, it'd be alot of fun.

So I decided to finally come 'round and paint my snowboard helmet.

There's still more to come...

I want to add the sheep from Black Sheep's logo (over the door), to each of those two white circles.
This helmet's got archetypes out the wazoo.

Let me know what you think.

Haven't posted in a while, trying to keep writing here with the knowledge that I'm the only reader is discouraging. No worries, though.
I'll be up at Beech on Sunday, maybe with John David.
Should be alot of fun.

I also won 2 free lift tickets to Wintergreen in VA.
Really excited to get up there and ride.
The guys at SkiNC also need some slope coverage and pics, so hopefully I'll be able to help them out while I'm up there.

If anyone needs a wax or tune, I'm open for business.

Hawksnest was great fun yesterday.
I replaced the board racks onto my car at five-thirty am yesterday,
loaded up all our gear, and Chase and I drove to meet Zach.
Kara and Matt were just down the road and all five of us got up to Seven Devils
just before nine-thirty. Parking was two dollars at the resort, lift-tickets were
forty. Overall skier and boarder traffic was low. I had expected crazy holiday turnout.
We had ample space to ourselves on the mountain, and plenty of good, clear sunlight for digging and hiking small kickers across the mountain.
The terrain park was empty most of the day, the Hawksnest staff was adding a fourth rail as we were leaving.
The new helmet was less of a burden than I expected.
From now on I think I'll be wearing it when I ride.
Hella sore now on my knee and butt, I'm awaiting the chance to ride again so I can make this pain all worth while.
Learned backside 180's off kickers as oppose to the regular quick backsides that I do off the nose occasionally.
I'm very thankful to God for the lack of injury in the session yesterday.
What a beautiful day.

Sugar sunrise... 6:58 pm.

People on message boards have way too much time on their hands.
There are alot of beech-haters out there that like to criticize the resort's control over the lift lines and how well the slopes are groomed at night, that sort of thing.
I'm not saying that these are points who do not deserve criticism, but in my opinion, free lift tickets on thursdays for men is enough for me not to care about those shortcomings... even though I have a season's pass so I can't personally benefit from the deal, I still appreciate it enough to forget about complaining.
It's friggin free already.
If you're not satisfied with your experience on the mountain, take a free lift ticket any thursday for the rest of the season (except holidays)!

I got to see the cam pan to the left. How lucky am I?

looks like everyone's getting in last runs before the break.

Being so close to the mountains, but so restricted from capable transportation is very depressing.
It's no wonder why seasonal affective disorder is so widespread this time of year.
But, now... A ray of scientific sunshine for me!
I stumbled apon this link today.
It's interesting because observing "wet bulb" temps is the first step to BACKYARD SNOW MAKING!!!
I'm so stoked on this concept, and the high usage of water involved doesn't shake me either,
for I can buy with a city employee discount, 80 GALLON RAIN BARRELS!!!
The possibilities for rain harvesting with these barrels attached to gutter downspouts are astonishing! Peep- A roof covering a 1,000 sq. ft. home will collect over 620 gallons of water with just one inch of rainfall! Connect one of these up to a pressure washer, compressor, and some fancy plumbing work, and you've got yourself an instant snow maker!
I need to research this a little further, but I think it'd be awesome to maintain enough snow in the backyard for a rail or kicker.

Oh, we wanted to go up sooo bad.

We couldn't quite make it up to Beech today.
I talked to Kris this morning, I'll have to call him later
and see what it was like.
Things looked real dark all day on the mountain due to the clouds,
atleast that's how everything looked on the cam.
Maybe it's good we didn't go up today, not just
because I don't have four wheel drive, but because I'd enjoy it
more to go up when there's more sunshine.
We'll see what opportunities tomorrow brings.

A sight for sore eyes.

Looks like tomorrow could be opening day for Beech mtn.
I don't think I can have my board waxed and tuned before tomorrow,...
This means I'll most likely just break out the scotch pad to clean up the edges.
